CCRM Australia in partnership with FundingIP: Helping Startups Protect Their Intellectual Property

CCRM Australia is proud to partner with FundingIP to help Australian biotechnology companies and advanced therapy startups access practical support to protect their intellectual property.

Intellectual property is often one of the most valuable assets but the cost of patent advice, filing and international protection can be a major barrier, particularly for startups still building their evidence base, raising capital or preparing for commercialisation.

Through this collaboration, CCRM Australia members will have access to a dedicated FundingIP application pathway for zero-equity intellectual property grants. These grants are designed to help startups protect their innovations without giving up equity, taking on debt or committing commercial rights.

Who is FundingIP

FundingIP (https://fundingip.com/) is a global not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping innovators protect their intellectual property and bring their innovations to life. FundingIP provides grants and financial support to startups, inventors, SMEs, incubators, accelerators and technology transfer offices. Its support includes zero-equity grants, IP strategy support and cost-free legal matching assistance to connect innovators with experienced patent and trademark attorneys around the world.

FundingIP’s grant programs can support a range of IP needs, including patents, trademarks, design rights, international patent filing and broader IP-related legal services.

What Support Is Available?

FundingIP offers grants that reimburse 100 percent of patent attorney fees, typically in the range of US$1,000 to US$20,000, with no equity taken and no repayment required. Patent filing grants are also available for US and EU patent filings. These grants can help cover professional fees for foreign law firms, enabling Australian startups to pursue international IP protection more confidently.

In Australia, FundingIP is already working with respected IP firms including FB Rice and Spruson & Ferguson. Startups may also be able to have their patent attorneys redeem the grant directly on their behalf.

Apply through a Dedicated CCRM Australia Application Pathway

An initial allocation of approximately 10 grants is expected to be available for CCRM Australia Partner Network Members.

Applications are designed to be simple and quick to complete. Startups seeking support with IP strategy, patent filings or international IP protection are encouraged to apply early.
