The Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine Australia (CCRM Australia) is proud to partner with the Israeli Network for Advanced Cell Applications (INACA) to initiate the first exchange program between the CCRM hubs. This program builds upon the memorandum of understanding signed between CCRM Australia and INACA at Tel Aviv in December 2018. This memorandum laid the foundations for joint commercialisation programs between Australia and Israel and seeks to promote collaborations in research and education.
The CCRM Global Network Exchange Program is open to PhD students, early career researchers/fellows and industry representatives, and provides an excellent opportunity to see the operational models of CCRM across the various hubs. Participants also get first hand insight into the regenerative medicine ecosystem in each hub country and engage with prominent researchers, industry networks and government agencies in the ecosystem. The program seeks to impart an understanding of the various capabilities of each hub and further promote joint research, translation and commercialization opportunities.
CCRM Australia’s CEO Silvio Tiziani noted, “our international exchange program with Israel is the first significant step to demonstrate the collaborative possibilities associated with being involved with the CCRM Global Network. As more CCRM hubs emerge from Europe, Asia Pacific and other major jurisdictions, opportunities to collaborate and learn from each other can only get better.”
Ms. Reut Guy from Tel Aviv University will be the first representative from Israel and will be spending two weeks in Australia. Ms. Guy will participate in a number of CCRM Australia related activities, attend the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy (ISCT) Meeting as well as training with an Australian research laboratory.
Bioforum‘s CEO and INACA board member, Yehudith Wexler commented, “INACA is very excited again to be working with CCRM Australia on the global exchange program. Its quick execution following the signing of our Memorandum of Understanding shows the level of commitment both parties bring to this partnership. Congratulations and thank you to Ms. Guy in taking the lead and we look forward to hosting our first Australian representative.”
About CCRM Australia
CCRM Australia is an Australian not-for-profit organisation supporting the development of foundational technologies to accelerate the commercialisation of regenerative medicine products and therapies. CCRM Australia’s focus is to bridge the commercialisation gap through a network of scientists, entrepreneurs, academic institutions and industry partners and address bottlenecks in the industry. CCRM Australia is modelled on the highly successful CCRM in Canada and is legally separate to CCRM. As a member of the Global CCRM network, CCRM Australia is a partner to a leading-edge industry consortium. CCRM Australia is supported by MTPConnect and the Victorian State Government.
About the Israeli Network for Advanced Cell Applications
The Israeli Industry Network for Advanced Cell Applications was established in early 2018 as part of the effort to bring different players within Israel to promote mutual discussion and collaboration in advanced cell therapies (cell therapy, gene therapy, gene-modified cells and tissue-regeneration products). INACA has at least 30 companies and hospital-based establishments, engaged in activities such as product development and clinical applications. Other members include service providers and regulatory bodies. This effort aims to further advance the field of Advanced Cell Applications in Israel and to expose it to global trends. INACA will collaborate with the global network of CCRM, which serves as a global hub for regenerative medicine expertise.
